This is our life…

Life is definitely different around here with our lil’ man, so I thought it would be fun to give you a little peek into our days with an almost 3 month old. Here’s a little recap of today!

5:00 AM: Hear Liam fussing, so I reach down and grab him out of his Rock ‘n Play and pull him into our bed to nurse. He falls back to sleep, so I put him back in his Rock ‘n Play.

6:30 AM: I hear Liam fussing again, and look down to see that he’s escaped his swaddle, but looks like he’s still sleeping. Collin is getting up to start work, so I ask if he would change his diaper, swaddle him, and bring him back to bed. Liam and I snuggle and he falls back asleep.

7:40 AM: Liam wants to eat, so I feed him, and he falls asleep nursing for a few more minutes.

8:00 AM: Up for the morning!  Change his diaper, and put on our first outfit of the day! Collin and I eat breakfast while Liam plays in his bouncer with his winkel toy. It’s the first time he holds it with both hands and brings it to his mouth!

8:40 AM: Liam wants a little snack, so I nurse him, then we go for a walk in our líllébaby Carrier. He falls asleep, so we head back home and I transfer him to the Rock ‘n Play for a nap.

9:20 AM – 10:00 AM: Nap

10:00 AM: Change diaper, change outfit

10:20 AM: Feed Liam – he’s fussy afterward so we do lots of burping, try tummy time and playing but nothing is working

11:00 AM: I decide to try and swaddle him in the Miracle Blanket and put him back down for a nap. He finally falls back asleep around 11:30 after I lay in bed beside the Rock ‘n Play and rock him to sleep.

12:30 AM: Awake & hungry!

We had a rough afternoon and I lost track of the time – we took a walk in his big boy jogging stroller (the Joovy Zoom 360) where he can look out and see everything, came home and played with daddy, and had some naked time – this boy loveees being naked! He started getting really fussy around 3pm, so we put him down for another nap, and I was able to get some work done.

5:00 PM: Short jog with daddy – this is the first time that we’ve done this and we use an infant insert in the stroller to keep his head from jostling around – he already has great head control. Daddy said he had a great time!

6:00 PM: Bath time! We took a quick bath, listened to some oldies, and played in the water. Mommy made noises with her mouth and Liam found it extremely entertaining.

6:20 PM: We put on our pj’s, swaddled Liam up in his Miracle Blanket, and put him down for an early bedtime

I’ve been following the Wonder Weeks app, and it has coincided with Liam’s fussy times pretty closely. He’s been having a hard time the last couple of days, I happened to look at the app today and noticed it said he’s going through a leap! His current leap is Smooth Transitions – he’s learning to move more fluidly. He already does several of the things it says he’ll be learning during the leap like:

• Baby is more lively, more active, squirms, and is turning in all directions
• Discovers new possibilities of the voice such as screaming, cooing, and crowing
• Blows saliva bubbles
• Clearly shows in his behavior when he finds something funny or interesting

Days like this are exhausting, but it is so fun to watch him learn and discover how to do new things! Collin and I are using the rest of the evening to work, make dinner, and relax.
