I haven’t written in this space in a while, and I’ve missed it! It has been such an outlet to me as a mom over the years, and I hope to continue to reach out to you all here.
Our life lately has been a little crazy. Right before Christmas the kids came down with pretty bad colds, got better right before we left to visit family in St. Louis, only to come down with the norovirus the day after we arrived. We ended up passing the illness on to our entire family, and most of us were in bed for days over our Christmas break. It was such a bummer, but I was reminded to be thankful in all things. Despite being sick, we were surrounded by love & family, and had helping hands to take care of the kids when the hubs and I were both sick.
We have all recovered, and are enjoying being back in sunny San Diego! We celebrated the new year with the kids by dressing up in our “fancy clothes” and going out for sushi in Pacific Beach. The kids wore hats & tiaras, along with beaded necklaces. We played with party poppers, glow sticks, and had a dance party until midnight (eastern time)! We all made New Years resolutions, Liam’s being my favorite, “to eat more ice cream!”
So to start the new year out on the right foot, we all went to the new Salt & Straw over the weekend. It did not disappoint! Even Nyah got to indulge, as they had several vegan flavors to choose from! Brownie was my favorite!
It’s been a bit rainy here recently, so we’ve been spending more of our days inside playing with our new toys from Santa! The kids have painted and colored on their new easel (which we LOVE & play with almost every day – it has two sides, so they can both be little artists at the same time), made play doh pancakes, built trains, and played rescue with Liam’s new Paw Patrol boat and Nyah’s new Little People.
What’s new with the kids:

Nyah is now taking one nap a day, at the same time as big brother (12:30), and transitioned to drinking almond milk entirely on her own a little over a month ago. She is wearing 18 months/2T clothes, and is around 26 lbs. She loves playing with her Fisher Price dollhouse and her new mini Ikea kitchen that is the cutest thing in the world! Her current favorite song is pat-a-cake and she loves all of the “Where is baby’s…” lift-the-flap books. She likes to be in bed by 6:30/7pm every night and wakes up around 6:00am when her brother noisily gets out of bed & climbs in her crib.
Nyah’s current favorite foods are blackberries, bean and rice burritos, pasta, and cereal. She is starting to use a spoon and a fork when eating, and loves that she can feed herself!
Liam is just as busy as ever, and has been a bit of a challenge lately. They weren’t kidding when they came up with the term “threenager.” I won’t dwell on it here, but it has definitely been exhausting…
Liam was super brave a couple of weekends ago, and went snowboarding for the first time while we were in Big Bear. The first day out, he went snowboarding with Daddy, and the second day he went to snowboarding school all on his own! Mommy, Daddy, and Nyah watched from the sidelines while our big boy snowboarded by himself. He did such a great job, earned his Adventure Academy badge, and we are so proud of him! We are super excited to go again, and try out our new toy that Daddy ordered – The Little Ripper Gripper.
Liam still takes one nap a day, and loves reading and making up PJ Masks stories (even though he’s never actually seen the show haha). We’ve started reading chapter books together, and he really enjoys the Magic Treehouse series. We’ve been able to get several of them on CD through our local library, as well as reading them together. When we went on our 3+ hour road trip to Big Bear, we listened to Stallion by Starlight the entire way there and back. Such a great way to pass the time, and so enjoyable too! I love that his joy of reading just keeps growing and expanding.
He loves telling and hearing jokes, is working on swimming long-distance across the pool taking breaths, and knows how to write his name on his own.
We have some fun weeks and months ahead, with family and friends coming to visit! If you want more frequent updates of these cuties, you can follow @krawllbaby on Instagram!
