As some of you may know, the hubs and I decided to wait to find out the gender of our babe – I’ve always dreamed of that moment when the doctor announces whether it’s a boy or a girl! Being one of the last true surprises we have in life I want to be able to experience that at least once.

Not knowing the baby’s gender can make shopping and decorating the nursery a bit harder, but I wanted to share some of my gender neutral nursery ideas with you today. I’ve always had a love for elephants, so I knew a long time ago that I wanted to incorporate elephants into our baby’s room. I adore the Elephant Laundry Hamper and baby elephant print from The Animal Print Shop. For colors we chose aqua, avocado green, yellow, and grey. I think these colors would work well for a gender neutral nursery.

I’ve also included some fun & whimsical pieces like the cloud pillow, Pierre the bunny, and the 3 Sprouts Mouse Caddy. My mom used to call me mouse when I was growing up (sometimes still does), and I thought it would be sweet to have this in our baby’s nursery.

We want reading to be a big part of our children’s lives, and it will definitely be a part of our night-time routine, so we would love to have a small library of children’s books that we can read as a family. Of course we’d like some of our favorites like Where the Wild Things Are and Goodnight Moon, plus some newbies as well – I’ve heard Giraffes Can’t Dance and On the Night You Were Born are both excellent!
