We recently returned from our holiday travels to the Midwest to celebrate Christmas with my family, and to Florida to bring in the new year with the hub’s family. It was such a great trip, and I’ve been spending the last week getting used to having a few less hands around. It was so nice for Liam to get to spend time with his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins!
We were gone for 13 days, and survived 7 flights (yes, I said 7!) with a teething 4 month old! Our saving grace again was our LILLEbaby Carrier. It is so great for getting through the airport, allowing the hubs and I both to have our hands free to carry luggage, and all the extra gear that comes with traveling with a baby. We had one evening flight on our way back to California where Liam had a little meltdown on the plane. Unfortunately there was a bit of turbulence, so we weren’t able to get up and walk the aisles with him, or stand up and bounce him a bit in the carrier to get him to sleep. I think he may have been fine had it been an afternoon flight – he could have probably survived missing a nap, but this was right at his bedtime, so hopefully we can avoid that situation in the future. I know it’s not going to be the last time he cries on a plane, and I think overall we handled it pretty well.
Liam reached an exciting milestone while we were visiting my parents in Wisconsin – he rolled over, and hasn’t looked back since! Rolling has been his #1 favorite thing to do for the last two weeks; he can’t get enough! He’s rolling from his back to his tummy, and we’re still working on rolling from his tummy to his back. I think he’s getting close.
The picture below is of Liam on Christmas morning – so excited that Santa came! For 4 months old, I think he really enjoyed opening gifts. We spread them out through the week, so he opened 1 or 2 every day. He had a lot fun ripping the paper (with a little help from mama and daddy of course)!
New Years was so much fun – the hubs and I got to go out while Liam stayed home and partied with his cousin Abby and their babysitter Nadine. It was only the second time we’ve gone out without the baby, and it was nice to have a few hours to ourselves.
Since we’ve been home, Liam and I both have been working on getting over colds that we picked up during our travels. He mostly has some congestion, and here are a couple of things that seem to be helping our little guy: Zarbee’s Naturals Baby Cough Syrup, and Matys All Natural Vapor Rub. I give him the cough syrup a couple of times during the day, and rub the vapor rub on his little feet, and a little on his chest before he goes down for the night.
I can’t believe I’m going to be writing his 5 month update in a few days – the time is going by so fast! He is starting to do more and more every day, and I’m really enjoying seeing his personality shine through. Can’t wait for what this month has in store! Happy new year!
